Picking the Right Solution

Welcome back! Once you get through the brainstorming solution stage, you may find the daunting task of actually picking one. Perhaps there are multiple options that present themselves to you or only one feasible path makes sense, but you aren’t confident that it’s the right one.

You are now facing a new set of problems, too many or too few potential solutions.

Making a decision can be overwhelming, but there are strategies that can help you make the right choice.

First, when you have a list of potential solutions, prioritize them based on their feasibility, impact, and alignment with your goals. Consider which solutions are most likely to be successful while facilitating the change you want to see in your life.

Testing your solution on a small scale is also helpful. If your goal is to create a newsletter business, start writing for a week and see how it feels. Are you able to gain even one subscriber? Can you get feedback from friends or family?

This process of creating a prototype or conducting a pilot program around your idea can help identify any flaws or limitations in your solution before you invest too much time or money.

Constraints such as budget, resources, time, and personal wellbeing should also be taken into consideration when picking a solution. Long-term impact and sustainability are essential factors to consider.

If it’s everything you think you want, but after testing you see that it would actually be quite stressful on you and your family, we may want to go back a step or two in the process.

Being adaptable and open to pivoting and trying something else is critical in finding the right solution.

Don’t look at it as a failure, but instead a key learning opportunity to propel you forward. One step closer to your goal.

What if you have multiple options of things you want to do, it can be challenging to pick just one.

Start by evaluating the pros and cons of each option, while considering the potential risks. Look for opportunities to combine your ideas or interests into one solution.

For example, say your goal is to work for yourself and so you are brainstorming business ideas based on your skills and interests. You conclude that you would love to own a coffee shop, but have experience in the fitness industry.

Perhaps you can open a co-working space that offers coffee and other health food at the front, and have private fitness studio in the back. Creating a wellness and coffee shop space all in one!

Seek feedback from others on your ideas whenever possible as it may illuminate something for you that you missed or neglected.

Finally, trusting your intuition can also help with the decision-making process. Sometimes we know what’s best but are fearful of landing on the right choice because we just made it “real”. This sets up conditions for failure as well.

I urge you to not keep anything fuzzy during this process. Bring your ideas out into the light!

Remember, there is no "right" or "wrong" decision. Trust yourself to make the best decision based on your goals, values, and intuition. With persistence and creativity, you can find solutions that truly make a difference in your life.

You are always just one solution away from changing your life. Treat your ideas with respect and give them the attention they deserve. You never know what answers you hold, that you never even realized were there.
